About The Founder
Heather Cole
Heather Cole is founder and owner of Modeling Camp. Originally from England, Heather moved to the US when she was 18 years old. She started her modeling career in New York in 1989 and went on to model internationally for eight years, working for magazines such as Vogue, Marie Claire and Elle. In 1997, after the birth of her son, she settled in Virginia and opened The Model Source, a modeling agency serving the Washington DC Metropolitan area.
The following year, Heather started ‘Modeling Camp’ – a series of personal development programs for young girls. Since then, the camp has grown to include instruction in Personal Grooming, Fashion Design, Modeling and Etiquette. Currently, over 600 girls each year come to Modeling Camp to enjoy a variety of programs. Over the last twelve years, she has presented her programs to over 4500 young ladies from all over the world.
In 2005, Heather became certified as a children’s etiquette consultant, trained by The Protocol School of Washington®, under the instruction of the renowned etiquette expert, Dorothea Johnson. Heather now incorporates this well known curriculum in to her personal development programs, helping girls develop leadership skills that will last them a lifetime.
In 2007, Heather opened Modeling Camp, Model Development, a division of the agency that helps girls prepare themselves for the fiercely competitive world of modeling. She also started a series of Year Round Programs, including the new ‘Five Stage Modeling Program’ and the ‘Five Steps to Modern Manners Program’.
Heather created Modeling Camp to help empower young girls with the confidence and poise that they will need to succeed in life. Her goal is for all girls to realize their inner beauty and to leave the programs with a stronger sense of self-esteem. Heather wants girls of all ages to pursue their dreams with confidence and style!
DEAR MODELING CAMP FRIENDS,
Hello again to all our campers and friends! I cannot believe that another
year has gone by so quickly! Modeling Camp is now entering its twelfth
season! Twelve years ago, I opened a small program in Fredericksburg,
VA. Since then, I am proud to say that Modeling Camp has grown to
become an internationally-recognized program with over six hundred girls
every summer coming to enjoy all that we have to offer! I would
like to take this opportunity to personally thank all of you
for your loyalty and support throughout the years.
Modeling Camp’s unique programs have been drawing
attention from all over the world! In England, we were
featured in the London Sunday Times Magazine. In France,
the news channel TF1 came to film our Miss Cotillion
program. Locally, we were voted a finalist Best Day Camp by
Washington Families Magazine readers. To accommodate this
huge surge in interest, we are now introducing the Modeling
Camp Sleep Away Option. This option provides summer
campers and their accompanying adult, accommodations
while attending camp.
Fashion Design Workshop is attracting the attention of famous
designers! I am delighted to announce that this year we welcome guest
speakers from Betsey Johnson! Also new this year, we are introducing
a fitness workout for our Fashion Workshop campers, taught by the
Active Duty Fitness For Women. Campers in Modeling Workshop
are taking a field trip to the Sport and Health Club in Tysons
Corner! In addition, due to popular demand, we are now
offering additional programs in modeling and etiquette to our
younger campers. 2008 marks the kick-off of the Five Stage
Modeling Program and the Five Steps to Modern Manners
Program, which offer girls a year round opportunity to attend
our programs.
I am so excited about this upcoming year and I hope that
